आईपीसी की धारा 292 के तहत महिला या युवती को अश्लील सामग्री जैसे साहित्य, तस्वीरें व अन्य दिखाने पर पहली बार दोषी पाए गए व्यक्ति को दो वर्ष के लिए सश्रम जेल व 2000 रु. का जुर्माना व अपराध दोहराने पर, जब प्रमाणित हो, तो पांच साल के लिए कैद  सहित 5000 रु. के जुर्माना का प्रावधान है।

किसी भी युवती/ महिला को 14 सेकेंड से ज्यादा देखने पर हो सकती है जेल। क्योंकि जाने-अंजाने व मजाक मे ही सही किसी परिचित व अपरिचित युवती/ महिला को 14 सेकेंड से ज्यादा घूरना IPC की धारा 294 व 509 के तहत गंभीर अपराध है। ऐसे मामले छेड़छाड़ के अंतर्गत आते है।

किसी भी लड़की/ महिला को 14 सेकेंड से अधिक घूरने पर लड़की के असहजता के मामले पर IPC की धारा 294 (ए) और (बी) का आश्रय लिया जाता है, जो युवती या महिला के प्रति अश्लील इशारों, टिप्पणियों, गाने या कविता-पाठ करने के अपराध में दोषी पाए गए व्यक्ति को अधिकतम तीन महीनों की सजा देती है।

भारतीय दंड संहिता के तहत महिला या युवती के प्रति अश्लील हरकत, अभद्र इशारे या तीखी टिप्पणियां करने वाले पर एक वर्ष के कठोर कारावास की सजा या जुर्माना या दोनों लगाए जा सकते हैं।
